OK...it's been suggested that the fatigue & tiredness I'm feeling could be coming from the fact that I'm not eating enough in my efforts to lose weight, specifically, this last 8-9 pounds to reach a weight goal I set for the Burnsville Metric. I have to choose between fast weight loss & poor cycling performance Vs. slower weight loss & better cycling performance. I can't have both.
Today, I chose the later, even though I want to lose it quickly, I'm not prepared to sacrifice my cycling performance any longer. That's really hard....I probably haven't been eating more than 850 to maybe, and I mean maybe, 1000 cal/day. I didn't really feel like eating this evening but I did. And, I used Fitday PC to log what I've eaten today. Grand total of 1143 calories. I feel like a slug now...like I've had too much to eat.
I'll give this (eating more) a try for the next couple of weeks, but if I start to gain weight, well, something will have to change.......

Oh gosh, I feel that is really, really low. You have to be burning over 3000Cal/day. I would be worried about entering starvation mode where it will become extremely difficult to lose weight and your body will start offing muscle over fat.
I don't remember which book I read it in (I train by HR not power) but I remember them recommending all weight loss being done outside the training season because it can negatively impact muscle regeneration, immune function and other forms of physiological repair.
I think it's good to have weight loss goals but you also might want to try using body fat % and not the scale. I just think the scale will give you artificial readings because I am imagining that once you start eating more, you will have more glycogen stores in your muscles, thus you will retain more water (you store 4g water for every 1g of glycogen). This may distort your scale values and not accurately depict your weight loss.
Just $0.02!
Yea, I know it's extremely low. It's been like that since Aug/Sept of last year. I've dropped the majority of the 40# lost since then as well. I did get around 1150+/- today tho /rolleyes/.
How bout I try for 12-1500 cal/day? Dang. Do you know how much food that's gonna be?? I guess I'm just to the point where I'm scared to eat more 'cause I'm afraid I'll start gaining. I'll try to do that (eat more) tho.
I just don't see how I could possibly be burning over 3000cal/day. I dunno maybe I am. Looking at my power data, I've burned right at 12000kJ just from riding since the first of March. That's about right for what my dr said I'd lost since the last time I saw him on 3/10.
So...I'll give it a try....
Hmmm...I probably would come up with a snack or two (or maybe a side for a meal) and plan it out in fitday (I like it too). I probably would increase to maybe 1200Cal (if you are around 1000Cal) at first and see what that does. I'd be concerned that your body would be like, "OH calories!" and start hoarding so you might not want to jump too high too quickly.
I also am silly and didn't even think to ask how tall you are...To me that Caloric intake sounds low but I know some women around 5'0" whose BMR is 1600 so then 1100 or so doesn't seem so drastic!
i'm 5'6" and working my way down to 160#. not too much further to go..
